Friends Only, Please

This blog is almost entirely Friends-Only. Sorry.

If you want to be my friend you have to know me somehow in real life, be it over IM, forums, etc. Either that, or say where you got my journal's URL.

I've met the Newsboys (big name Christian Rock), I've met and been critiqued by Philip Brunelle (conductor), I've taken lessons from Jimmy O'Shea, former bassist for Cacophony, the group which spawned Marty Friedman and Jason Becker. That's all I can really think of...

I'm skeptical about the common sense and critical thinking of the far left.

Kargyraa Exploration

bass
I've been able to sing khoomeii and a similar throat singing style, sygyt, for some time now. But what I've always wanted to do is sing kargyraa. It's the low, droning song sung in the mountains. It is majestic. And it is the embodiment of all things bass. And finally, after much experimentation, I have figured out how to do it.

At first I thought it was an extension of vocal fry. But my vocal fry is very weak. And it's not an undertone, either, but rather only the vestibular folds vibrating. It's different to sing kargyraa; the style involves singing a note and constricting the larynx so that the vestibular folds also vibrate, producing a sympathetic undertone one octave down. So far I can do it only early in the morning, but I'm still able to do it.

Tom McClintock stands up for the common man

bass
Tuesday March 17th, 2009, California Congressman Tom McClintock delivered to the floor of the House of Representatives a bag of over six thousand postcards protesting the mortgage bailouts.

Each of the postcards was written by an individual, telling the story of a struggle to get by, and outrage that we, the American Citizens, don't want to be forced to pay others' mortgages.

I pray this campaign (in which I was a joyful participant) will spark others like it, and that the voice of the people will be heard. Nobody wants to pay others' mortgages, no matter what kind of "sacrifices" the tyrannical United States Government tells us to make.

Here is a link to the raw audio from the floor of the House: five minutes that I promise will be worth spending.

Have you ever ruined the ending or given away plot developments in a book, movie, or tv show by telling someone who hasn't seen or read it what happens? Has anyone ever done this to you?
